Community Outreach
Seymour Volunteer Fireman serve the community in several capacities outside of fire safety. Scholarships honoring previous firemen Bill Unsell & Mike Jurecek are awarded to graduating seniors annually. Every year Fireman host a free Veteran’s Breakfast to recognize those that have served. They also have a program to assist families that are victims of house fire to help them replace belongings and essentials. In September, fire prevention programs are put on by the local SVFD in the school systems to raise awareness and education for our kids. At Christmas time the Seymour Volunteer Fireman have their most extensive outreach programs with Toys 4 Tots and their annual food basket delivery. Food baskets typically consist of about $200 worth of food items and toys are delivered on Christmas eve to deserving families.
