GENERAL is for places 1, 3, & 5. Each are 2 year terms
SPECIAL is for places 2 & 4. Each are for 1 year terms to fill vacancies left in last year’s election.

QUALIFICATIONS TO FILE FOR A PLACE ON THE

SEYMOUR CITY COUNCIL

A candidate for the office of City Council must:

∎ be a United States citizen

∎ be 18 years of age or older by May 7, 2022

∎ have not been determined mentally incompetent

by a final judgment of a court

∎ have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities

∎ have resided continuously in the state of Texas for 12 months and 6 months within the city limits before final date to file an application (February 18, 2022) )

∎ be a registered voter

∎ No candidate may file in a single election for more than one elective office or position

∎ No employee of the City shall continue in such position after filing for an elective City Office.
