COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
OF
THE CITY OF SEYMOUR
DECEMBER 12, 2017
A Regular City Council Meeting was held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Conference Room, 301 N. Washington Street, Seymour, TX 76380.
Mayor Josh Sosolik called the meeting to order, roll call and led the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:02 p.m.
Council present: Mayor Josh Sosolik, Les Hons, Paula K. Vaden, MPT Jon Hrncirik, Mary K. Fair and Monty Glass.
Counsel present: City Attorney Jonathan Whitsitt was absent at the beginning of the meeting.
City Staff present: City Administrator Steve Biedermann, City Secretary Conchita Torrez and Electric Supervisor Jay Barrington.
Guest(s): Jerry Ann and James Crawford
Announcements from the Mayor: No announcements from the Mayor at this time. .
Citizen’s questions and / or comments: No one signed up for questions or comments
Consent Agenda: (Items listed under the Consent Agenda are considered routine and are generally enacted in one motion. The exception to this rule is that a Council Member may request one or more items to be removed from the Consent Agenda for separate discussion and action.)
- Consider approving the consent agenda as follows:
(a.) Approve meeting minutes from Thursday, November 16, 2017
(b.) Accept Reports:
- Monthly Investment report
- First Bank & Trust account summary report
- Employee List/ SFRE Membership Total Report
END OF CONSENT AGENDA
Council reviewed the consent agenda and motion was entertained by Mayor Sosolik.
Motion made by MPT Jon Hrncirik, second by Council member Monty Glass to approve
the consent agenda as presented by City Secretary. Motion passed unanimously.
- Discuss, consider and take action regarding Salt Fork River Estates Complex
Concrete bids from the following:
Tomas Concrete Construction $12,900.00
David Bates (Do it all Bates) $25,000.00
Motion made by Council member Les Hons, second by MPT Jon Hrncirik, to approve the
concrete bid pertaining to the Salt Fork River Estates Complex project to Tomas
Concrete Construction for the amount of $12,900.00 with the stipulation that Street
Supervisor Adam Sturgeon oversees the work being performed.
Motion passes with 4 ayes and 1 nay by Council member Glass.
- Discuss and approve the City of Seymour bills paid the month November, 2017.
Council reviewed the City bills and a motion was entertained by Mayor Sosolik.
Motion made by Council member Hons, second by Council member Paula K. Vaden to
approve the city bills as presented. Motion passes unanimously.
Regular meeting closes and Executive Session will begin at 7:03 p.m.
- An Executive Session (closed to the public) and pursuant to Chapter 551 of the Texas
Local Government Code, under §551.071; Consultation with City Attorney regarding
electrical liability at 200 W. McLain Street.
City Attorney Whitsitt arrives at 7:28 p.m.
Executive session closes and regular meeting resumes at 7:58 p.m.
- Discuss and take action regarding deliberation with City Attorney on liability for
200 W. Mclain Street, James Crawford residence.
Motion made by Councilmember Les Hons, second by Council member Mary K. Fair, to
pay $905.72 for damages received at their residence at 200 W. McLain Street and for
Mr. and Mrs. Crawford to sign a release of liability and an appropriate disclaimer
drawn up by City Attorney. Motion passes unanimously.
- Motion made by MPT Hrncirik and second by Council member Paula K. Vaden to
adjourn at 7:59 p.m.
