SPECIAL CALLED MEETING
MAY 11, 2017
A Special City Council Meeting was held on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 6:00 p.m., at City Hall Conference Room, 301 N. Washington Street, Seymour, Texas 76380.
Call to Order, Roll Call and Pledge of Allegiance was led by MPT Monty Glass.
Council present: MPT Monty Glass, Council members Les Hons, Jon Hrncirik and Mary K.
Fair. (2 Council members constitute a quorum for the Canvassing of Election).
Counsel present: No counsel was present
City Staff present: City Administrator Steve Biedermann, City Secretary Conchita Torrez,
Ed Slate, Robert Torrez, Nita Hons, Lauren Bush and Johnny Jackson.
Guest(s): Patsy Sosolik, Tricia Hons, Mary A. Slate, Brent Sosolik, Stephanie Sosolik, Paula
- Vaden, Josh Sosolik, Joan Heath, Anna Jackson, Brian Jackson, Kyson Hudson, Brenda
Hulcy, Don Hulcy, Bethany Campbell, Monte Campbell and Election Judge Kathy Harper.
- Canvass of Election Returns regarding May 6, 2017, General Election for two-year
term for Mayoral Position, Councilmember Place #2 and Councilmember Place #4 as
reviewed by Council Canvass Subcommittee: Council members Jon Hrncirik and MPT
Monty Glass. Presenting the canvass of election results is Election Judge Kathy Harper.
Kathy Harper, Election Judge presented City Council with the election results for the May 6,
2017, Mayoral Position, City Elections.
Incumbent Mayor Mathis received the following votes: Early Voting 22 votes and Election
Day 28 votes for a total of 50 votes.
Opponent Josh Sosolik received the following votes: Early Voting 35 votes and Election Day
43 votes for a total of 78 votes.
Paula Kisinger Vaden ran unopposed receiving the following votes: 37 on Early Voting
and 47 on Election Day, for a total of 84 votes.
Mary K. Fair ran unopposed receiving the following votes: 40 on Early Voting and
50 on Election Day, for a total of 90 votes.
Motion made by Council member Les Hons, second by Council member Jon Hrncirik, to
accept the Canvass of Election returns as presented by Election Judge Kathy Harper.
Motion passes unanimously.
- Discuss and approve Resolution No. 1445, a resolution declaring the results of the City
of Seymour, General Election for 2017.
Resolution No. 1445, declaring the results of the election was presented to City Council.
Motion made by Council member Jon Hrncirik, second by Council member Mary K. Fair,
approving election resolution . Motion passes unanimously.
- Statement of Elected Officer administered to Mayor, Council Place #2 and Council
Place # 4 by City Secretary.
City Secretary Conchita Torrez administered the Statement of Elected Officer to Josh
Sosolik, Council Place #2 Paula Kisinger Vaden and Council Place #4 re-elect Mary K. Fair.
- Oath of Office issued to Mayor, Council Place #2 and Council Place #4 by City
Secretary.
City Secretary Conchita Torrez administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Josh Sosolik,
Council Place # 2 Paula Vaden and Council Place #4 Mary K. Fair.
- Discuss, consider and take action regarding appointment of Mayor Pro-Tem, for a one
year term, for the City of Seymour.
Motion made by Council member Les Hons, second by MPT Monty Glass, to appoint
Jon Hrncirik, as the Mayor Pro-Tem, for a one year term. Motion passes unanimously.
- Adjournment by MPT Jon Hrncirik, second by Council member Les Hons, to adjourn
meeting at 6:14 p.m. Motion passes unanimously.
