A Special City Council Meeting was held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 12 NOON at 301 N. Washington Street, City Hall, Conference Room, in Seymour, Texas 76380. All notices have been duly posted in accordance and conformance with the Government Code of the State of Texas, Section 551.002 (c ) . The City of Seymour attempts to make its meetings accessible to all its citizens. If you have need of auxiliary aids, please notify the ADA Coordinator at 940-889-3148, at least 48 hours in advance. The following agenda will be considered:
Call to Order, Roll Call and Pledge of Allegiance by Mayor or Mayor Pro-Tem .
Mayor Pro-Tem Les Hons called the meeting to order, Roll Call and Pledge of Allegiance at 12:02 Noon time.
Council Present: Mark McCord, Les Hons, Lan Winn, Debbie Gillispie, Billy Henricks.
City Administration Present: Jeff Brasher, City Administrator, Conchita Torrez, City Secretary, and Lauren Bush, ED Director.
Guest Present: Mrs. Mary Lou McCord, Dusty McCord, Randy McCord, Janey McCord, and Election Judge Courtney Browning.
1. Hear and take action regarding Election Canvass Results from Courtney Browning, Election Judge regarding the May 6, 2023, City General Election for Mayoral position, a two-year term, Council Place #2, a two-year term, Council Place #3, a one year unexpired term (unopposed), Council Place #4, a two-year term, and Council Place #5 (unopposed) a one -year unexpired term.
Followed by the reading of Election Resolution No. 1546.
Election Judge Courtney Browning read the election results and declared the winners for the 2023 City of Seymour Election.
Mayoral position
Mark McCord received 204 votes during the Early Voting period, and 93 votes on Election Day for a total of 297 votes
Jon Hrncirik received 202 votes during the Early Voting period, and 38 votes on Election Day for a total of 240 votes
Mark McCord was declared the winner for the Mayor Position for a 2 year term.
Council Place #2
Kimberly Stevenson received 138 votes during the Early Voting period, and 55 votes on Election Day for a total of 193 votes.
Skyler Henricks received 259 votes during the Early Voting period, and 73 votes on Election Day for a total of 332 votes.
Skyler Henricks is declared the winner for a 2 year term.
Council Place #3
Council Place #4 Monty Glass received 294 votes during the Early Voting period, and 95 votes on Election Day for a total of 389 votes. Monty Glass is declared the unopposed winner for a 2 year term.
Council Place #5 Billy Henricksreceived 293 votes during the Early Voting period, and 86 votes on Election Day for a total of 379 votes. Billy Henricks Glass is declared the unopposed winner for a 1 year unexpired term.
Following the winner declarations from Election Judge Courtney Browning, City Secretary read aloud Resolution No. 1546. A motion was made by Council Member Lan Winn, to approve Resolution No. 1546, followed by a second from Council Member Billy Henricks, to approve and pass Election Resolution results for the City of Seymour, 2023. Motion passed unanimously.
2. Statement of Elected Officer administered to the City of Seymour, 2023 Election Candidates, declared the winners.
City Secretary Conchita Torrez administered the Statement of Elected Officer Oath to Billy Henricks, Monty Glass, Debbie Gillispie and Skyler Henricks.
City Secretary Conchita Torrez administered the Statement of Elected Officer Oath to Mark McCord, for the Mayoral Position.
3. Oath of Office administered to the City of Seymour, 2023 Election Candidates, declared the winners.
City Secretary, Conchita Torrez, administered the Oath of Office to the City of Seymour, 2023 Election Candidates, declared the winners, to Billy Henricks, Monty Glass, Debbie Gillispie and Skyler Henricks.
4. Adjournment of meeting
Motion by Council Member Lan Winn, second by Council Member Debbie Gillispie, to adjourn meeting at 12:19 p.m.
