Public Hearing for City of Seymour

The City of Seymour will hold a First Public Hearing at 7:00 p.m., on April 28, 2022, Portwood Pavilion, 800 E. Morris Street, Seymour, Texas.   

This public hearing is in regard to the current City of Seymour Ordinance, 99-08, Chapter 11, Article 11.107, Burning of Garbage.    


Sec. 11.107 Burning of Garbage, etc.
(a) It is hereby prohibited for any person to burn garbage, trash, debris, structures, or other related articles within the city limits, save and except the volunteer fire department of the city may, without violating this article, burn structures solely for the purpose of training volunteer fire fighters. The volunteer fire department must obtain authorization from TNRCC prior to conducting outdoor burning for training.

(b) Violation of this article shall be punishable by a fine in accordance with the general penalty provision found in Section 1.106 of this code.

Suggested Changes

To include or not include language pertaining to burning inside the city limits, limbs or otherwise, control burning of grass, and adoption of burn bans when issued by Baylor County.

Citizens are encouraged to attend and discuss this ordinance during the public hearing. Written comments may also be submitted to the City Secretary, P.O. Box 31, Seymour, Texas 76380.  Persons with a disability or others requiring auxiliary aids or services to participate in this hearing should make arrangements with City Secretary Conchita Torrez, at 940-889-3148 at least two days before the hearing.
